So what is this “thing” called COACHING?

Here is the “thing” and there always is a “thing”. Ask 10 different people and you will get 10 different answers. Recently before running a workshop on strategy for a significant company, I submitted a portfolio and CV. They called back to say that they didn’t really want a personal trainer but someone who know about company strategy. It was awkward. 

Coaching and mentoring are close;y related and without putting too much of a fine point on it, if you are engaging in any of my structured programs you are getting a mix of coaching and mentoring. 

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

In my coaching practice, I’ve observed that a significant portion of executive coaching is dedicated to working through the decision-making process, communication skills, influence skills, task prioritization, relationship conflicts, and overall effectiveness as leaders.

Strategic Coaching for Business and Personal Development

Strategic coaching is a uniquely formatted coaching intervention which is equally suited for business people and individuals. With no life or business strategy, it is unlikely that you are developing and achieving at optimal levels.

Classically seen as a business tool, strategic coaching is what I became well-known for in my business work over the years. I have helped 100s of individuals using this approach. A major objective is for you to be able to make decisions in alignment with your skills and strengths as well as the opportunities presented in your environment. Just as importantly, you will know why you made that decision when it comes time to reevaluate your strategy in the future.

The process ends with a series of actions and decisions. For businesses, the process is a 2-day fast-paced highly interactive team process. Personal development takes around 5 to 8 hourly sessions to create a full personal strategy.

Behavioural Change & NLP Coaching

Do you feel that you are losing control of your thoughts, beliefs, habits or behaviours? Do you want to change a specific thought, belief or behaviour?

To help you change, I work with NLP, Self Hypnosis, Mindfulness, Neuroscience and Persuasion Psychology. NLP is the study and understanding of exceptional communication with yourself (yes we all talk to ourselves!) and with others. Self Hypnosis and Mindfulness provide exceptional tools for locking in change. Neuroscience and persuasion psychology help explain why we do the things that we do especially unseen and previously hidden influences.

Behavioural change coaching and NLP coaching sessions are part of the overall coaching process but tend to be shorter in duration and laser-focused on one particular issue such as stopping a habit, changing eating habits, addressing wellness issues, changing a belief or addressing negative emotions.

How It Works For Most Coaching And Mentoring Sessions:

Free 20-Minute Discovery Session

All sessions are conducted via Google Meet. I will schedule the appointment on my calendar and send you a link. This session is an opportunity for a short chat and to get an idea of what you hope to achieve. You can ask more personal questions about the process and determine if I can be of value to you. If I feel that I am not the ideal coach for you, I may suggest someone else in my network who is better suited to help you.
We will also cover the investment from your side.

First Session: Foundations of Change

This session sets the foundations for change. We reach an agreement on what your main purposes for coaching are. Normally the discovery session will have helped you to solidify and clarify what you want to achieve.

We will agree on times, dates, and your overarching goals, which will then be broken down into a series of 5 to 10 sessions or bi-weekly standing sessions.

5 to 10 Ongoing Sessions: Results Phase

This is where we will start working towards your big “thing” – one building block at a time. These are normally bi-weekly standing sessions. Weekly sessions are possible, subject to my availability, but bi-weekly sessions are the sweet spot.

Each session will last 60 minutes, and I will keep you focused through direct and sometimes uncomfortable questions. If it were easy, you would be doing this yourself!
